Last meeting, gifted speaker, prayer warrior and mom of three, Danita Parker shared with us her wisdom and experience in area of praying for our children. She outlined several truths:Parenting never ends! Your heart and mind is always with them no matter how old they get.
We can't fix our children. We have to release them into God's hands and He will change them according to His will. Philippians 2:13
God CAN change everything and He is faithful to answer our prayers. Luke 18:27
We live in an increasingly complex and turbulent world and prayer is our best weapon for the future of our families and our children. The word of God is the Sword of the Spirit and when we equip our minds and hearts with specific scripture, we are armed knowing that when you pray God's Word, it will not return void. Isaiah 55:11 In prayer, we can find strength and not find ourselves derailed by stress, worry and negative thoughts.
It is never too early to start praying for our children's health, safety, relationships, marriage (yes, marriage!) wisdom, purpose, etc. It is important to hone in on traits early as we pray and align ourselves with God's Word. Problems as adults can often be traced to lack of development in certain areas as children.
Aside from the benefits your children will receive from your partnering with God and praying scriptures for them, YOU will grow closer to God in the process...and you will not be the same.
Some scriptures to keep in your prayer bank: Proverbs 25:28, Proverbs 13:3-4, Proverbs 5:22-23, Proverbs 9:10. Join Danita on the first Sunday of every month, at 9:00 am as she leads a group to pray scripture over our children. She also recommends the book, Praying the Scriptures For Your Children by Jodie Berdt.
Thanks again to Danita Parker for joining us and sharing her wisdom on mothering our children on the spiritual level.
