By Karol Ladd of PositiveMom.comII Chronicles 20:15 - 17
This what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow, march out against them. You will find them coming up through the ascent of Ziz at the end of the valley that opens into the wilderness of Jeruel. But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out there tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!
We know as moms we will have joys as well as challenges. The passage above, from II Chronicles reminds us we are not alone. Take courage from these powerful words, “The Lord is with you.” I’m sure each of us has a few battles ahead of us. For some of us it is a particular fear or worry. For others it is a battle with food or alcohol. And of course there can be battles in our home with relationships or potty training or a strong willed child. It’s easy to think that we are alone and must face the challenges in our own strength.
Let’s draw encouragement from God’s word. “Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” Dear sweet fellow mom, are you willing to give the battle over to God and stop trying to fight it on your own? Are you willing to courageously stand against temptation, and ask the Lord to do a mighty work? Stand firm, be courageous, listen to the Lord’s instructions and trust Him to fight on your behalf. Later in II Chronicles 20:20 we read, “Believe in the Lord your God and you will be able to stand firm.” Let’s start off by believing God and recognizing His ability to help us stand firm. Determine to keep your eyes on Him and call out to Him for help. He loves you and invites you to walk with Him in fellowship.

A Mom’s Prayer:
High King of Heaven, I praise you for you are able to bring victory in my life. I praise you that you have all power to defeat my enemies. Thank you for the power, courage and strength you provide for me in the midst of my battles. Lord I give my battles to you. I can not win alone, I need you. Thank you for being with me. In Jesus name, Amen.
When distress and cares oppress you,
And you seem to walk alone
Look up, friend, for God will bless you,
He is mindful of His own.
You may walk with Him forever,
You may walk with Him forever,
He’s a never failing Guide
He will not forsake you, never,
He will keep right at your side.
What a word of consolation;
What a word of consolation;
Sweetest theme you’ve ever known;
In the time of fierce temptation,
God is mindful of His own.
