Not a creature was stirring...

Looking for a fun and easy Christmas cookie recipe the kids are sure to appreciate? Melissa Strickland made Chocolate Cherry Mice for the Christmas cookie exchange last week...they were oh so cute and really good too!

You will need:
24 marachino cherries with stems, 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips, 24 unwrapped Hershey's Kisses, 48 almond slices, 24 Oreo cookies, colored frosting

Directions:
1. Drain the cherries and pat them dry.
2. Heat the chocolate chips in the microwave until smooth, working in 15 second intervals, stirring between each.
3. Holding the cherry by the stem, dip it into the chocolate and completely cover it. Set it on the iced side of an Oreo half and immediately press a Hershey Kiss onto the cherry for the head. For the ears, gently wedge two almond slices between the kiss and the cherry.
4. Pipe on the eyes, nose and holly using purchased colored frosting or make your own by blending 1 cup confectioner's sugar with one teaspoon water tinted with food coloring.
5. Refrigerate mice until ready to serve.

For a special gift, package these little guys with a mouse-related holiday book, such as The Night Before Christmas or The Nutcracker.
